GKN Automotive Quality Supervisor (Metrology Lab) in Alamance, North Carolina

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for safety, quality, delivery, and productivity of their assigned teams.

  • Function as primary facilitator for designated cell(s) and have responsibility for performance across all shifts.

  • Housekeeping and 5S responsibility for assigned cells and shop floor in general.

  • Responsible for KRONOS Time and Attendance tracking, cross charging hours, enforcing attendance policy, and reconciling payroll adjustments and corrections.

  • Make decisions regarding vacation and personal time planning.

  • Communicate and enforce company policies.

  • Maintain staffing to budgeted levels.

  • Process ECR’s and make requests for temporary labor.

  • Coach, train and develop teams/individuals to peak performance.

  • Counsel and discipline teams/individuals as necessary.

  • Hold regular team meetings, which should include support personnel as required.

  • Communicate and escalate with peers in production and support functions.

  • Champion QIP’s and Improvement Flashes which drive cell improvements. Work cross-functionally to address cell issues.

  • Aid in budgeting and scheduling process. Make overtime decisions along with Production Area Manager.

  • Represent production department in CAPM Process for new program launch.

  • Manage day-to-day exceptions with teamwork and good decision-making.

  • Perform other duties as required by Production Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain conformance to budgetary limitations in all reporting cells.

  • Exercise direct supervision over teams/cells in respect to safety, quality, delivery and cost of production to satisfy the customer.

  • Maintain a team based culture though leadership and by example.

  • Stimulate maximum efficiency and productivity of teams.

  • Manage the efficient utilization of equipment and facility.

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.

  • Recommend subordinate personnel and/or rate changes.

  • Effectively manage employees through succession planning, development, and, when necessary, through disciplinary actions.

  • Recommend and justify purchase of new capital equipment.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in Manufacturing or related degree preferred, or at least one year towards the degree and working towards completion; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

  • 2 years manufacturing experience

  • Must possess strong leadership experience

  • Experience in high volume production

  • Familiar with standard accounting procedures
