GKN Automotive Maintenance Engineer (Job Code MEWEB) in Alamance, North Carolina
Participate in the development and implementation of maintenance strategies in accordance with business objectives with an aim to reduce plant operating costs. Responsible for maintenance of all processes and equipment with an emphasis on the electrical and controls maintenance. Develop and implement a preventative maintenance plan to ensure the continuity of production or that interruptions are for the shortest time possible. Develop knowledge of machinery, subgroups and components in order to increase the effectiveness of maintenance activities and improve design for maintenance in future plants. Develop measures, plan and strategize work, identify organizational needs, and manage multiple projects. Perform installation, corrective maintenance or preventive/predictive maintenance any and all pieces of equipment located on GKN Property. Work with outside contractors concerning production equipment modifications, renovations and installations. Access PLC programs for troubleshooting and correction of machine problems. Maintain PLC program change request system integrity. Change PLC programs where required by engineering to change machine functions. Troubleshoot hard wired controls on machine. Modify hard wired controls on machines as directed by engineering. Maintain backups of PLC programs. Participate in new cell prove-offs and ramp-ups to assure cells launch successfully. Troubleshoot electronics components. Train maintenance technicians on troubleshooting using PLCs. Work with Production Facilitators to prioritize maintenance work and reduce downtime on the assembly cells. Work with external auditors during facility inspections (i.e. insurance, environmental). Support Lean initiatives in the maintenance department (5S, VM, LTA, AM, Kaizen). Participate in Plant Shutdown activities including work at needs to be done, plan for any materials or equipment needed
Bachelor Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering or foreign educational equivalent. Three months of experience in the position offered, or in a similar position, such as Maintenance Technician. Experience must include Programming and Maintenance of robots used in manufacturing operations and PLC programming using Allen Bradley Rlogic5000.
